The Mountain Gorilla is one of the most endangered species in the world, yet it is one of our closest relatives, sharing 98% of our genome. Approximately, only 700 of these magnificent creatures survive today, 380 in the Virunga Volcano mountains and the rest in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
No Mountain Gorilla has ever survived in captivity, therefore it is crucial to protect them in their natural environment. We must guard them from poachers and secure their habitat from development. It is up to all of us to protect and honor the great Mountain Gorilla.
